Why energy storage matters
Stored energy for continuity, efficiency and a more flexible grid.
A battery energy storage system captures electrical energy for use when demand, supply or electricity cost makes it more valuable. It can respond quickly to an interruption, reduce peak demand and help balance variable renewable generation.
The right solution starts with the operating objective: backup duration, daily energy shifting, renewable self-consumption or grid support. Power rating and energy capacity are then sized around that objective.
| Objective | System action | Project value |
|---|---|---|
| Backup power | Detect an interruption and discharge to selected loads | Improved operational resilience |
| Peak shaving | Limit grid demand during the site’s highest load periods | Lower demand exposure and better capacity use |
| Load shifting | Charge during low-demand periods and discharge later | Energy-cost optimization |
| Renewable support | Capture surplus solar or wind generation | Higher self-consumption and smoother output |
